Now that parse_string() is fully functional and even the documentation
for it is done -- and presumably sufficient, given the lack of comments
on this mailing list --  I mean to start on the implementation of
atomic functions and multithreading, in that order.  This is going to
involve a substantial rewrite; version 1.1.42 is, in all likelyhood,
going to be the most stable version in the experimental branch for a
while.
