I like the more general abstraction of having zero to many ports which
can be enabled for telnet, tcp ("binary"), udp, or raw ip. There may be
applications requiring superuser privilege and it would be good to have
a mechanism for starting DGD with maximum privilege, which it would only
retain for minimum required purpose.
Alternatively, the networking portion could be factored out into a separate
program module using some other method of interprocess communication.
(just some thoughts)
