[DGD]Timeouts (ugh)

Hi again.
I'm still hacking away at a mud on the Melville lib, and have hit
something of a brick wall.  Being the friendly and helpful
people you are, *cough*Erwin*cough*, I'm putting the problem out
there and would appreciate any help :)

How do I get it so that the driver/lib/whatever disconnects
people after they have idled for a certain length of time?  Do I
use a heartbeat, or something more complicated and fantastical?
