On the subject of MacOS X compilation, the GNU 'patch' utility works 
just fine for me, with the patches from the Imaginary.com FTP site.

Alternatively, Noah Lee Gibbs' page at 
http://www.angelbob.com/projects/DGD_Page.html contains instructions 
on how to manually modify the source to allow ANSI colour escapes.
