[DGD] Auto and Driver objects

I've been pondering this some time, and think I finally figured it out...
the driver object does not inherit the auto object, correct?  That means
that all the fancy versions of functions that are overloaded in the auto
object, are not overloaded in the driver object, right?  When you call
compile_object or whatever, it does not use the version written in auto
object if you are in the driver?

Am I mistaken?
