I find this number suspicious -- the largest SGI is limited to over 
1000 processors.  While there are certain obvious similarities between 
clusters and SGI's ccNUMA machines, the difference between 
off-the-shelf high-end ethernet and a switching fabric specifically 
designed for linking up components of a very expensive supercomputer 
should be considered (both in terms of performance and on your wallet).
