If you wanted to be really tricky you'ld set up a
system where you could reference a person by their
recent actions:

remember person who mugged me as Dirty Rotten Thief

Actually, seeing there's only a few times that you
would want to remember someone who just ran away or
whom you just ran away from (if they steal from you or
if they attack you), you could add specific commands
for these situations - "remember last attacker" and
"remember last mugger". You could even incorperate the
chance of remembering a thief as part of the system.
