"Would it be difficult to ..." is the usual line of inquiry whenever
someone thinks that I should be implementing in C whatever they don't
want to implement in LPC.  I think this is the first time that the
request is made for LPC code that is already written and available.

I am going to give my usual answer, which is, "it's not that hard,
but you're going to have to do it yourself."  My priority is to
provide a rock-steady driver with a feature set that is as small and
stable as I can keep it.
