As far as competing with DGD...I dunno. It's more planned to be a
compatible replacement that acts identically with respect to taking in
and spitting out statedumps, as well as remaining transparet wrt LPC
side stuff. The switch from dumpfile to SQL was more of a "be
original enough" idea, and as far as I can tell via private
discussions, all is kosher so far. Internally it woudl be different,
and dump compatibility is only for import/export. Sorta like gawk vs
awk, or bash vs sh.

(btw, I really don't mind Dworkin's arrangements with regards to
licensing. Seeing as he is a programmer instead of a money-hungry
corporation, his motives aren't in question. Considering all the flak
he's gotten over features, and how diligently he fixes bugs, I'd say
he's darned well earned his keep. But that's into the realm of
business and not programming, so I digress. Bottom line, I have
nothing against the license itself, just the side effects)

Whether it competes with DGD is up for debate as I honestly don't
know. I'd fancy I may be targeting a different market entirely,
namely, folks who need a server to host things on, but who don't have
the dough to spend to keep it running.

Me and dworkin have spoken on this, and as long as I maintain original
enough implementation, a little friendly competition would be welcome.

Matter of fact, when the revised MP license comes out, I may very well
abandon my project if the terms indicate that an alternative such as
mine isn't even needed anymore.
