The MUD-Dev mailing list was a high volume invitation-only mailing
list run by J. C. Lawrence from 1997 to 2006.  The subjects were
originally mostly technical, then gradually became more social,
and eventually petered out into endless reruns and interminable
"what is the nature of role-playing" discussions.  During its most
fertile period it was a must-read, and some of the fundamental
ideas behind Hydra were developed here.
