[DGD] crash in latest dgd driver

Just a quick FYI on something I overlooked myself.

Since we're now on github, sourceforge is no longer sending out commit
messages to the mailing list.

If you assume like I did that stuff doesn't get done give dworkin's
repo a peek first.
