I'm fully with you that the best way to run a game involves direct and
frequent human oversight, but unfortunately, it is my experience that this
becomes increasingly difficult as the size of the game grows. Mud admins
generally (myself included) rarely have any management expertise, and this
is what hands-on regulation requires. There's no way, as your game grows,
for you, the Creator, to regulate everything yourself, and so you become
forced to depend on other people to do that, and that can be very
difficult if you have no experience at management.
