And how fast it fractures once it's won, and the whole thing starts over
again. No one faction will be big enough to 'win', unless you are small.
On a fairly large game you'll find that factions have to team up to win.
Alliances can be shakey things when the title of supreme victor is at stake.
And what happens to "defeated" factions? Unlike RL, genocide generally
isn't supported by the game. So their numbers never dwindle, nor do they
lose their skills at any appreciable rate. So either you offer them
incentives to join or you take away enough of the perks gained by holding
terratory. Either way, you now have a former enemy in your midst, and
they may well not appreciate being conquered.
Human dynamics are so much more complex then hard-coded 2 or 3 team
games.
