[MUD-Dev] Holidays

Speaking for the Habitat & Palaces families of products:

The users celebrate both IC and OOC holidays. Though users have more time to
be online during OOC holiday breaks, the attendance at _specific_
"Christmas/Easter/Whatever" events was often _lower_ than at
player-significant IC holidays like the Kymer "New Years" celebration which
was held in mid-November on the aniversary of the public opening of the
WorldsAway service.

The Palace also has annual IC events like "24 Hours in The Palace" which
(for established users) far outdraw OOC holiday events.

Perhaps the difference with MUDs is that Habitats and Palaces are mostly
about socializing. Could it be that users who are being fed XP-rat-pellets
for clicking on monsters just don't have as much time to stop and reflect
about their society? :-)

>From someone who has been clicking on a lot of monsters lately,
