Ok this is a comment and a question to the community.
Used to be most people had access to the net via text only. telnet, gopher
and such things. EVeryone mudded then because telnet was common and
everyone knew what it was. Now most colleges and other places with common
access have gone to windows desktops and most of the users are clueless as
to what telnet is. There are a couple good mud clients out there but
unfortunately they are clients that are somewhat hard to set up, and make
available the entire list from mudconnector.
And we have to compete for plaeyrs with UO, everquest and other places
like them. Players who, if you can get them OFF of those games, and walk
them through setting up a mud client usualy say they like the mud better
and stick around.
It's becoming necessary for there to be some sort of dedicated client that
connects users with very little effort to the mud it's for. A couple muds
have put their own clients out.
Now the question.
first how effective are those clients for those muds that use them.
Second: with all the mud code bases released to the public, would it be
feaseable and would anyone be willing to do so, to release a rather
generic, fairly configureable client base to the public so that imps who
dont ahve the skill to write one can still have one for their mud?
