I think this discussion took a left turn somewhere.  I believe the original
point was that some people are d00dish when placed into a given environment,
and that the environment should be altered to accomodate d00ds such that
they aren't inspired to be d00ds any longer.  Something that I happen to
agree with.

This is different than saying that we should give d00ds an environment where
they can be d00ds.  Letting someone be a d00d is irresponsible, especially
when it's a child.  It's the same irresponsibility that exists when a parent
spoils or beats their child.  They are helping to form an unhealthy adult
who will then be a burden on society - not to mention the fact that the
child itself isn't going to enjoy their life.

Anyway, that's the way I interpreted the whole thing.
