[MUD-Dev] Squeezing the ink from "Magic Book"

The "smart goggle" they pieced together is just a hash of available
technology, used creatively. Damn, what a killer job. :-)
Their goggles have an image recognition sensor built into them. The
goggles simply plant a 3D mesh onto the symbol and transforms the model
based on your position to the recognized ink blob. It draws the 3D onto a
HUD in your goggles such that it still allows you to see the typed letters
on the page, your peer sipping on his nth can of cola, and the dim lights
of the basement.
Ready to escape the real world? Then you press the magic button and
presto! you are inside the 3D world (scene). Move around the world and
you are limited only by the technology doing the 3D and the display
props. Some of the new goggles handle 800x600 in 16bit color, about
gaming standard these days.
Further, once inside, the 3D tech they were using recognizes other
individuals who are viewing the immersed scene and places an avatar
wherever they happen to be standing in the area. This is mentioned
somewhere in their site. Again, limited mostly by the computing power of
the engine handling the data.
Now if they would wire up a highspeed wireless connection, make the
goggles affordable, coordinate sounds, and have someone cook up a
controller to move about the world. Add a few pills for motion sickness
and the latest MMOG created specifically for the device to serve perhaps
the most addictive and enjoyable simulation experience out there.
