Hi,

I'm currently thinking about possible research projects on (primarily
graphical) virtual worlds, for systems development students at a level
similar to MSc-students. (approx 1 year full time work)

The current crop of MUD research has limited potential to aid design
as most of it is done outside our field. Someone ought to do
something about that, don't you think?

What would you as a practitioner/designer like to know more about?

What kind of unwritten knowledge, experiences and data are out there
waiting to be collected and analyzed?

To what extent would you be able to provide information to students
(and well, my own research :*) and would you be able/willing to
participate in (e-mail) interviews and focused discussions?

Would you be more willing to participate if the research address
design issues that you struggle with, or involves evaluation and
feedback on your design and practices? What kind of issues would that
involve?

I'm just asking *grin*, trying to figure out what the limits of
"possible" are. I know that many developers are working under strict
NDAs, so it would be interesting to get a better idea of what can be
done. Another thing, I'm generally interested in getting in touch
with design teams with fairly "open" policies who are aiming for
casual/regular users, and who have a system running with users on.

Feel free to email me in private, all questions are welcome!

Ola.
