Communities.com, formerly Electric Communities, filed for Chapter 7 
bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District 
of California. ``It was just a dot-com company with dot-com 
problems,'' said a former company executive. The Cupertino company 
offered an online community in which people used interactive text and 
voice chat in a visual environment.
