At the surface, yes, until you read the "sharing over multiple
servers" part, at which point you're right back to the cost of 2
characters on 1 server being exactly the same as the cost of 2
characters on 2 servers.

Again, there are many reasons that you might want to have single
character servers, and I actually agree with a lot of them.  The "if
its not a race, then why are you upset that they're winning" jab was
not meant to indicate that I dispute the various problems that
muling can cause, but to express amusement about the typical "Stupid
powergamer, you're messing up the game for me.  It's not a race,
stop winning!" diatribe.

I just prefer calling a rose a rose and a mule a mule.  Either the
reasoning is justifiable or not.  Don't construct nonsense reasons
because "they sound good" or "people might really be able to get
their head around them", or, what I suspect was actually the case,
"lets make it sound like we didn't have a choice, and that there are
technical reasons that we had to make a decision that we know will
be wildly unpopular".
