An interesting article from Casino Magazine.

Online games of Korea are very different from UO, EQ, DAoC, Sim
Online or SWG. Obviously, designers of Lineage spend a lot of time
in designing the combat, not storytelling.

The most interesting part is Chinese culture area-- China, Taiwan,
Korea, Japan, HK, Singapore -- thought Game is the representation of
lazy, feckless, shiftless.

Online Gaming Is Significantly More Popular In China, South Korea
  and Taiwan

A study said Web users in Hong Kong spent more time connected to
the Internet than surfers in any other country, spending an
average of nine hours and 43 minutes online per month. Part of
that, according to a survey conducted by Ipsos-Reid, an industry
group that interviewed 10,000 people between the ages of 12 and 24
in 16 countries, stems from the growing popularity of online games
  in Asia.

The survey showed online gaming is significantly more popular in
China, South Korea and Taiwan than anywhere in the world. "Online
gaming hit its peak in the United States about 18 months ago,"
said Megahed. "In Asian countries, the Web is newer and games are
following the same course as they did here."

Gaming sites that offer casino gambling appear to be most popular
in South Korea, with 65 percent of Internet users there visiting
them, according to another industry survey. NetValue said its
study showed that Hong Kong ranked second for gamblers with 39.8
percent. Taiwan, with 34.2 percent, was third in the region,
  followed by Singapore and China

Not everyone is happy with the growth of the Web. In a published
report, schools administrators in Singapore think the love affair
with the Internet has gone too far, and are calling in
psychiatrists to help the growing number of "addicted"
surfers. The Singapore government said that about 80 students in
the island nation of 4 million people are considered Internet
addicts, up from only three addicts five years ago.
