I'll offer that girls want to relate or to facilitate relating.
Building works only when people are involved. Rollercoaster Tycoon
is interesting because of the people that are using the park. If
you gave a girl a game that lets them design a house that they can't
do anything with, as a group they'll get bored quickly. No people
are involved. Change it into a house-builder that a family moves
into and you get to see them use it and you might have an
interesting game for girls.
Girls relate. Boys control.
