I think the point I was trying to get at is that a female would
rather find a way to have a physical interaction than be by
themselves. So, in my opinion, if a female had to choose between
physical interaction and talking on the phone (or voice-over-IP),
physical interaction would still win. You also have to remember
that most females talk on the phone to friends whom they know
physically and could potentially interact with or have interacted
with physically, whereas many friends they might make over the
internet do not have that potential.
When you have physical contact with someone, the interaction is much
more intense, body language is 90% more revealing than words. Limit
that to a phone conversation and you still can sense feeling in
someone's voice but miss the body language (unless you know them
well enough to know what their body language might be without seeing
them). If you limit that even further to pure text, you lose almost
everything because even though someone may be putting "emoticons" in
their sentences, they could be outright lying to you and you would
never know.
