Personally, I'd rather play games on a more even playing field where
only in-game achievements and skills matter when pitted against
others in the game.
Just because Bubba doesn't make as much money in rl as Boffo or even
Buffy's daddy, doesn't mean that he should be penalized for not
wanting to go out and spend hard earned dollars for something that
can and SHOULD be earned through in-game means. (And yes, I consider
in-game networking and grouping with people part of the multiplay
experience, not looking for good deals on a web page.)
And I don't think that most the people out there designing MMOs are
out for the dollars, but instead a well done game. The people
holding the purse strings might be, but not the people down in the
trenches.
