This reminds me of the psychology article that someone posted to
this mailing list not too long ago:

The article covers how ignorance of a topic leads to ignorance of
your expertise in the topic.
The similarity occurs in one subtopic found in each article:
improper assessments.
In the 'bad idea' article, bad assessment of a project's ability to
profit is incredibly hard to discourage. In the psych article, bad
assessment of one's talent is incredibly hard to notice for the
untalented.
Just an observation.
