The concept of transferring real money into game money has already
been tried with the MMORPG called "Project Entropia", where the user
had to transfer money via PayPal or by Credit Card into the game
through secured transfer pages in-game. This service did not cost
anything to use, how did it benefit the company then?
The answer is pretty simple, anytime you used ANYTHING that you had
bought in-game, the quality of the item dropped down from the normal
100% level to something lower (depending on how the weapon/item was
damaged or used), the only skill you couldn't learn in-game was
repairing, this has/had to be done at special terminals for anything
from a few cents to a few dollars. Imagine 30.000 users doing this
everyday, then all of a sudden the money starts flowing in from the
game back into the real world and down the pockets of the company.
However; people may shun this way of gaming, whilst others may
embrace it, so it is playing russian roulette if you do not know the
market.
