According to Rayzam:

You can connect with the same account on two different computer.
However, when you try to enter one of the world servers, you're told
that there's an active character, and you need to wait until that
character has logged out.

That happens a lot if you have a fast system, and get unexpectedly
disconnected. You relog, but if the log-out timer hasn't expired,
you get the same error.

Note that SOE has announced the dropping of the "no alt-tab"
limitations. It will be soon possible to run Everquest in a windowed
mode, and probably pretty uncomplicated and unexpensive (read: "no
need to buy a 2nd computer") to use a single computer to control two
accounts simultaneously.

Coupled with SOE's recent policy of sending out validation codes to
whomever might want them, it looks like they're encouraging people
to have multiple accounts (and mules and multiboxing).
