I'm sure you're not the first person to feel this way (first to
admit it though, glad to be of service!) >:)

Agreed.  But if we agree (and I know you haven't agreed to this, but
to put it hypothetically) that players are content...how do you
"grow" them?  Where do they come from?  How do you get "enough"
role-players to support a commercial MMORPG?

Not really.  Mostly we have some very poor, blatantly outrageous
attempts.  If anything, we have a little too much paranoia.
