I agree it would be possible. Right now the focus has been on
getting stable servers up and the basic mechanics. Even navigation
is fairly primitive.

I have always felt that if Sony/Verant do to EQ what Idsoftware did
to Quake, then EQ could be extended for many, many years after EQ2
and EQ3. It has the potential of creating a horde of EQ fanatics --
even more than now. And still makes a good basis for MUD type
experimention and machinima (with the right hooks).
Of course it will never be Everquest as it is now, but close enough
to get every man, woman, child, and puppy dog hooked on EQ.
