Yes, definitely.  Both intellectual property commitments and time
commitments.  This has been the case for me when I worked for
someone else (3DO, EA), and when I've worked at my own company such
as now.  There are many threads I'd like to add another perspective
to but feel that in doing so I'd be doing my company a disservice.
And there are threads here that I'd respond to but I know that doing
so will likely open up a big thrashy discussion that won't really
lead anywhere new.

For me at least, contributing here without giving away hard-won IP
and while (hopefully) contributing more signal than noise is often
difficult.  This is why this list has so many lurkers in the
industry, I suspect.
