Do you actually _read_ what is being written on this list or do you only
pay any attention to the answers to your _own_ questions?

Standard DGD filters out escape characters.  If you don't like this, edit
the C code yourself to find the relevant statements and change them, or
use the add-on package that has been discussed here very recently.
