Hm. Probably not, if only because it's a little too esoteric
to be part of a really basic lib. If I was going to go down
that road, I'd want to do away with "rooms" altogether, and
go to a system of purely positional relationships. I think it
might be possible to do that in a way that's not too complex
for the untutored to understand. Whether it can be done in any
sort of efficient way is a much different matter. Also, it is
a project that is probably better left to someone with greater
skill in theoretical computer science than myself.

Also, grid based rooms are relatively easy to code for yourself
if you want to, particularly if you know how to use the virtual
object hooks.

That said, one thing I might add to Melville is a simple hook
for virtual objects; so to that extent, I might take a big first
step in the direction of grid rooms even if I don't actually
do it.
