Sounds interesting.

They are also not being retained in LPC objects owing to concerns
about crashing.

I may even wind up writing them to a named pipe with a snoop logger
running on the other end outside of LPC. Sorta like a logrotate type
flushing mechanism.

BTW, I snoop ALL users, whether they be admins, staffers, players, or
anything else. Even admin gets snooped. If a staffer starts looking
at snoop logs, that itself is snooped in turn...unless of course they
have enough ex-mud shell access to bypass the snooping mechanism. :P

You bring up good points felix but they don't fit very well according
to my design...not yet anyway.

Right now I'm just timestamping the I/O and then dumping it into a
secure directory where only the root admin has access. Any staffer
investigating will need to get a "search warrant" of sorts to get a
copy.

Also, I should mention that my snooping doesn't discriminate between
staffers, admins, and players. Even admin gets snooped.

Is the complaint/snapshot mechanism handy enough to warrant keeping
copies of the snoop logs in LPC and all that higher level hooking
complexity? I must admit that I've never done much "hooking" at any
level other than at the toppest and bottomest levels :P
