Only if you want to write your network daemon using named pipes.
Which is rather a strange way to go about it, isn't it?

To get back to the subject, with direct calls to a database from
DGD/MP there would also be quirks that transaction management
could not fully compensate for.  You'd either have to extend the
rollback condition testing to database objects, or accept non-
sequential behaviour, and perhaps occasional database commit
failures.
