I'm not keen on any sort of split. Its balkanising no matter how you
look at it, and the entire idea here is cross-pollination and
catalytic action of ideas and chopping the discussion into different
camps can't do anything but hurt that.
As far as newsgroup support is concerned, my current tendancy is to
one-way port (no posting to the newsgroup) the list to a private
newsgroup on a private newsserver, accessable by password only where
the password is guiven out to members in the list welcome message.

<ponder> I'll post more on this later. I'm looking a publicising the
list while keeping membership closed/invitation only.
