Heh.
Sun, wh ohas NEVER missed a SINGLE promised delivery date or peice of
functionality has PROMISED a JIT fir JAVA by fall for the Win95 and Sun
envrionments that will make JAVA run as fast as C++.
I think that solves yourhidden complaint here, execution speed.

Why not? PCCTS 2.0 is totally JAVA. Is see no reason why one couldnt write
a compierl in it and in fact, if I mvoe Kelvin to JAVA I'll probably port
kelvin-c over.

Again, why??

UM... Ill argue with your AD&D point first... the prob with AD&D was not a
millio nsupplements, the problem wwas an inhearently limietd architecture
that had to be jury-rigged.
The JAVA archtecrture has changed virtually none since 1.0. There are 2
MINOR additions to the VM with 1.1 (which shoudl really be called 2.0 its
that kind of step) and one promsied peice of functionailty that has finally
been fully implemented. Thats it.
What Sun has been doing is extending the standard library. More components
is a good thing IMO and i think its hard to argue woith. If you dont want
em, just don't use 'em.
Again, I hate to say this, but i hear alot of oinion stated here without
any substantiating facts...
Peopel tend to get irrational abt langauges and maybe we shoudl drop this
entire thread...
