Writing as list owner:
Petidomo exercises stricter security for membership authentication
than Steward does/did. Steward would allow a post with a From or
Reply-To line that matched the membership list. Petidomo checks
__only__ the From field. This poses a problem for those of you who
use the Reply-To field of your messages to mask the fact that you are
changing ISP's, machines, etc as all your posts then bounce from the
list. The advantage is that it makes it (slightly) more difficult for
a spammer or non-member to forge messages which are then posted -- a
potentially valuable thing when the list goes public.
If you are using a mail forwarding service like IName, Bigfoot or
similar, you need to make sure that the From: field on your messages
is your subscription address. You must either subscribe with your
non-Iname/bigfoot/etc address, or use your Iname/bigfoot/etc address
in your From field.
