A short warning. If you use some seeded pseudo random function to
determine what 'new' things you would notice, a person can get a
very good picture (asymtotically correct) of all elements. They just
have to 'sample' and average the information over several feedbacks=20
(much like you can get accurate GPS readings on a stationary location).=20
A fix is to use the same seed over a long period of time (minutes). So
the player would have to 'work' to get a clearer picture, which would
be consistent with the concept of observing something for a longer=20
period of time to learn about it.
