However, the mudlike games that I'm aware of don't have character portability.
The relevant data for the character is authoritatively stored on the server,
and not transferrable to a different game.
Similarly, character identity is often related to things in environment of
that particular server. A character might be a member of this guild on
that server, or posseses that building, or so on.
This seems to be to be Diablo's least mudlike trait, along with the
randomness and nonpersistence of everything outside the town.
