Announcing the imminent Beta of ScryMUD!
October 1, 1998.

After 3+ years of blood sweat and spaghetti code, ScryMUD
is going to open for Beta.
First of all, we are not 100% stable, and things will be changing
rapidly.
Secondly, we are 100% original in world and code, so you may
be lost at first, and it will take much time to find the whole
world, if you ever do.
It should not be easy to level excessively, especially at first,
but there is a rich and coherent world to discover.
A few Notes:
The theme is Post-Apocolypse. The world was broken asunder, and
now is beginning to heal. New magics have creaped into the broken
parts of the realm, but old tech and knowledge can still be found
if you know where to look.
Semi-classless, skills/spells are learned in a tree-like basis:
You must have the base skills before you can learn the next
ones.
There are about 200 skills/spells coded currently.
ANSI Color is finally in.
Mob scripting allows for some fairly detailed interaction with
NPC's, though not as many scripts are written as I would like.
I'll give the first few players some fairly decent equipment and perhaps
a little help in leveling the first few levels.
We are also still accepting builders, and have a nice Java Client that
gives a Graphical Interface to the OLC.
PK Is allowed, with almost no code restrictions, but the Gods of
this new realm will try to keep the world balanced untill the MUD
population stabalizes enough to police itself.
My brain is too fried right now to think up more things to say...be
ready for a more coherent notice tomorrow :)
Sincerely,
Ben aka Grock
