I'll not disagree with your restatement. (Although I do possess creative
freedom out the yin-yang. I find my own ignorance creates the perfect
environment for this kind of creativity. :-) I say this only half
jokingly, since I never want to know enough that I can name 10 reasons why
any good idea proposed will not work. But I digress.)

However, I think that it is not the commercial nature of an endevour that
matters, but whether the endeavor has vision. Pardon the reference to
politics, but I'm tired of "leaders" who test the political wind before
each decision they make. I yearn for leadership with conviction that
jumps out in front and screams at the top of their lungs, "FOLLOW ME!"
Whether we aim our games at a large or small audience, whether we create
them to entertain ourselves, others, or to turn a sizable profit, I'd like
to see us design and create games with conviction and vision. Let's move
forward because we _know_ that our designs will turn the gaming world on
its ear.

If we glance behind and see no one is following, at least we'll know
where _not_ to go charging off the next time we yell, "FOLLOW ME!" :-)

Is anyone else out there sick of the status quo, hedging bets, playing it
safe, etc.???
