[MUD-Dev] Another Firstborn Falls: Meridian 59

Raph, get ready for another sad entry into the Timeline.  According to
an in-game post by the Customer Service representatives, Meridian 59
will soon be extinct.

New character creation is closed on existing servers, and billing has
stopped.  "On August 31, 2000 at 4 p.m. PDT, the Meridian 59 servers
will cease operations permanently."

Another sad day in the history of our industry.  Although I only had the
chance to work on it only near the end, it was a great game, especially
given its humble beginnings.  The game has a special place in many of
our hearts.

Kudos to the original developers still lurking out there.
