GoP: Goal Oriented Play or Goal Oriented Player

This is generally used to describe a game type which is based on the
definition of goals to be adopted by players followed by their
accomplishement by those players, or the players who play their
games in that manner.

Most combat oriented MUDs fall into this category due to their
contentration on levels (a high level is "the goal") and the
resulting optimisation of player's play styles toward the most
efficient/effective methods of obtaining that goal "high level).
Lambert quipped this as, "The players will always find the quickest
way to the cheese.".

GoP is contrasted to other play styles, such as role playing and
socialising, due to its concentration on goal attainment usuallyto
the sacrifice of other values.
