[MUD-Dev] An interesting concept

I recently bumped into the design for a rather interesting game while
wandering around the net:

  http://www.cad.uni-sb.de/~werner/thegame.htm

"The game's peculiarity is that there's no pre-programmed plot. It's
rather a kind of simulation where every participant (Player and NPC)
is treated equally by the system".

Although designed to run as a network game, the same concepts could
apply equally well to an online game. The idea of an "interactive
simulation" is one which I find particularly appealing - and one which
lends itself very well to online games which (unlike a single-player
game) cannot stop just because one player quits.

I also found the landscape approach rather novel - it's generated by a
fractal algorithm as needed, and is scaled to the same size as the
real world (so travel takes a LONG time).
