Personally, I prefer to think of it as "Game Oriented Play", since
"Goal Oriented Play" could mean anything, depending on what one's
goal is. (That is, a player's goal does not necessarily have
anything to do with the game.) "GoP" is often contrasted to "RP",
which makes no sense if it is "Goal Oriented Play" -- after all, RP
is just a different goal.
In truth, though, I prefer the rec.games.frp.advocacy
"dramatist/gamist/simulationist" set to simply dividing things into
"GoP" vs. "RP".
