The way most ISP's deal with stuff like this is to keep copies of any
applicable logs ready for the police. If the person is concerned for
their safety, they should take the issue to the police, not to you.
Getting involved in issues of that sort is asking for trouble -
there's already established ways for people to deal with real-life
death threats, regardless of the delivery mechanism.
That's pretty much how I'd respond, too - point them in the direction
of the people who have the skills to deal with such issues, and hold
onto anything log-wise that might help them.
