One of the original server/game programmers for Underlight is
actually my roommate. From what he said, Underlight is currently
being operated out of love, for little or no profit. It's one of
the fascinating things about this genre - often developers have as
hard a time of letting go as the users. Witness Meridian's
resurrection at http://www.neardeathstudios.com. Also, the original
coders of 10Six have announced their intention to acquire the game
rights from Sega and set up their own servers.
