Yep. We decided that we didn't want to fool with the "timeline" of
the 20's, which covers most of the paper RPG supplements (except for
Beyond the Mountains of Madness, which takes place in the 30s). Thus
the setting takes place after the "adventures" that players might
already know about. In effect, they already happened.
In fact, we even coordinated it with the author of an upcoming
supplement (probably out next year) that covers 1928 through 1932 --
our game starts in 1933, just after the events of that supplement.
There are some other reasons -- we feel that the parallels of the
30s matches more to today, as the 20s better matched the 90s. The
growing paranoia, the threats from overseas, economic issues moving
to the forefront, etc.
