It should be higher even if it is difficult to find clear data. The
Themis Group has published some info about subscriptions and selling
rate for EQ, UO and AC for the year 2000 and 2001:

For Everquest it is reasonable to assume that it sold far more then 1
million copies and counting the expansions too (and all the different
collections packs) it has probably sold 1,5- 2 millions boxes.
Consider Anarchy Online. It started pretty good with 50k to 70k
subscribers, it went down to 20k to 30k subscribers and probably raised its
subscribers number at this stage ( 40k to 50k ?). Still even if it was
pretty limited in terms of subscribers, they had more then 750k player
accounts.
