Yet regardless of their final verdicts, the reviewers of Auto Assault
and DDO are overwhelmingly positive on one point - the immersive,
tactile "twitch" gameplay. Perhaps this is not a feature that MMOG
players in general are extremely interested in, but for the smaller
market that enjoy such gameplay (which seems to be, if not
considerable, at least self-sustaining) it is obviously a huge reason
for playing the MMOGs they do.
And SWG:NGE was just a screwup - a big, steaming mother of a screwup.
Bolting twitch gameplay onto the old "tick-based" RPG database backend
can result in nothing but disaster.
